Godparents: Louis Desmarais & Angélique Martin.1,7 His baptismal name as written in the parish register was Damase GENET.1 He married Zoé BOULAIS, daughter of Patrice BOULAIS and Marguerite TETREAU, on 7 March 1859 in St-Nom-de-Marie, Marieville, QC, Canada.8,9 As of 7 March 1859, his married name was Damase CHENAY.8,9 He married Aurélie BOISVERT, daughter of Amable BOISVERT and Zoé (Céleste) BROSSEAU, on 12 August 1889 in St-Romuald, Farnham, QC, Canada.10,11,12 As of 12 August 1889, his married name was Damase CHAINE.10 He died on 18 February 1907 in New Bedford, MA, USA, at the age of 71.13,14 His name at the time of death was written as Damasse CHAINAY15 and was buried on 21 February 1907 in the Sacred Heart Old Cemetery in New Bedford, MA.16

In the case of Damase (whatever family name you care to apply) it sure is a very good indication of what many genealogist go through in the research endheavours.
Damase's birth and baptism record has always been hard to find. Probably because of the way it was spelled in the parish register. How it came to be spelled that way makes many wonder!

Secondly he is married under the name of Damase Chenay
Thirdly he marries a second time under the name of Damase Chainé
His death record is finaly under the name of Damasse Chainay
