     Joseph Edward Louis CHENEY, was born on 10 October 1898 in Amesbury, MA, USA.¹ He married Gloria Mae HILTON circa 1922.¹ He died on 12 August 1963 in Brockton, MA, USA, at the age of 64.¹

     Rufus Pool GROOM, was born on 23 December 1884 in Bruceton, CA, USA.¹ He married Rena CHENEY, daughter of Louis CHENE and Lydia Edith HEBERT, on 30 September 1911 in Salem, MA, USA.² He died on 13 November 1955 in CA, USA, at the age of 70.¹

     Georgianna Beveridge MEEK, was born on 30 March 1926 in Newburyport, MA, USA.¹ She married Earl CHENEY, son of Joseph Edward Louis CHENEY and Gloria Mae HILTON. She died on 2 February 1979 in Methuen, MA, USA, at the age of 52.¹

     Theresa A. KELLY, was born on 17 July 1893 in MA, USA.¹ She married Wilfrid CHAINEY, son of Zéphirin Thierry CHAINEY (CHENEY) and Eléonore BELIVEAU, on 8 January 1938 in Saint Leo, Leominster, MA, USA.² She died on 15 January 1987 in Leominster, MA, USA, at the age of 93.¹

     Robert Albert MORROW, was born circa 1894.¹ He married Hazel Elizabeth REID, daughter of Edmond James REID and Anna Belle Elizabeth SANFORD, on 21 October 1914 in South Plantagenet, ON, Canada.²

     Lewis (Louis) SHINEY (CHAINE/CHENE /CHENEY), was born circa 1828 in Marieville, QC, Canada. He married Narcissa JACOBS circa 1845.¹ He married Amy ACKERMAN on 4 December 1874 in Union City, Dakotas, USA.¹ He died on 28 July 1892 in Big Sioux, Dakota Territory, USA.¹

RESEARCH NOTES:
The information that exists for Louis Chainé, also known as Luis or Lewis and with various last surname spellings such as Chéné, Chainey, Shiney is fairly reliable from his discovery in Vermont until his death in the Dakota Territory.
However the one important missing link is documentational proof that he is a child of Augustin Chéné and Catherine Desmarais (Desmarets). Record of his birth/baptism cannot be found though it is assumed that he was born in the area of Marieville, QC, Canada, where his other siblings were born.
Extensive research provided by Pamela Stone has established with the aid of US Census Returns and other documents that Lewis was in many places almost at the same time as his siblings, Augustus and Frank. A paper trail provided by her indicates that the 3 brothers, Lewis, Augustus and Frank travelled from Vermont to Wisconson to Iowa to The Dakotas and also to Kansas.
Following their trail is a complex adventure in the act deciphering of surnames as well as given names. However the combination of documents below provide a very strong suspicion that Lewis Shiney was a child of Augustin Chéné and Catherine Desmarais. Here, as best as I can present the information, I have provided a paper trail, with links to actual documents found on Ancestry.com for Lewis Shiney and his two siblings who seemed to have travelled pretty close to one another:

At the same time his brother Augustus (his brother, not his son) was living in Rushford, Winnebago, WI with his wife Mary and their 4 children: Mary, Frank, Albert and Mathilda.
Lewis' other brother Frank was still living in Johnson, Lamoille, VT with his wife Clarissa and their 2 children: Mary and Frank.

At the same time his brother Augustus was still living in Rushford, Winnebago, WI with his second wife Henrietta and their 4 children: Albert, Mathilda, Henry and Emma
Lewis' other brother Frank is now found also in the 1870 US Federal Census living in Sherman, Monona, Iowa with his wife Clarissa and their 2 children: Henry and Birtie

This indicates that Lewis Shiney was living at Big Sioux, Union, Dakota Territory in 1880 alone with his wife Amy (Ackerman). No children are listed on this census return.
No mention of his brother Augustus is recorded. However his other brother, Frank is found to be living in Rush Center, Kansas with his wife Clarissa and one child, Birtie.

It states that he was shot in the head which left him very disabled.
