The first inhabitants of Saint-Georges-de-Windsor settled there around 1837-1838. They came from Baie-du-Febvre, Pointe-du-Lac and Yamachiche. From 1844, Father Charles Tardif of Saint-Félix-de-Kingsey served these settlers. He was followed by Pierre Jacques Bédard, Georges Jacques-Duhaut (priest of Wotton from 1852 to 1857) and Hilaire Casimir Hamelin (priest of Wotton from 1857 to 1903). The parish was canonically erected under the name of Saint-Urbain-de-Windsor on November 9, 1863. The registers opened on January 3, 1864 with the baptism of Urbain Rocheleau. The first parish priest, Georges Vaillancourt, moved there in 1868. He stayed there for 38 years. The municipality of Saint-Georges-de-Windsor was erected on January 1, 1861. The name of the municipality and the name of the parish being different, the name of Saint-Urbain-de-Windsor was abandoned and replaced by that of Saint- Georges-de-Windsor in 1872. The name Saint-Georges-de-Windsor commemorates one of the parish's first servants, Father Georges Jacques-Duhaut. In 1872, when the name of Saint-Urbain was abandoned, Father Georges Vaillancourt had just been named first resident priest. The patron saint of the parish reminds both the memory of the first missionary and the first resident priest. The name Windsor refers to the city of the same name in England. The construction of the church stretches from 1868 to 1870. In 1961, after 100 years of existence, the municipality is divided into two (village and township). In 1994, the two municipalities are regrouped again. In 2011, the municipality of Saint-Georges-de-Windsor had 911 inhabitants.
