County of Deux-Montagnes. Diocese of Montreal. The arrival of the first resident priest and the opening of the registers of this parish date from the year 1799. Canonical elaboration: May 9, 1834. The territory of this parish was detached from the parishes of Saint-Eustache and the Annunciation . For description, see M. and P. de Deschamps, pages 376 and 1111. The municipality of the parish of Saint Benoit was erected under the Act 8 Vict. Ch. 40, July 1, 1845. The municipality of the village of Saint Benoît was erected on February 24, 1898. See Official Gazette of 1898, page 639. The village of Saint-Benoît is located on the Canadian National Railway. Pop. 1,215.
